Government 101: How Los Angeles Works

Los Angeles as a city is like no other place on earth: millions of residents within the city limits and millions more surrounding it. With elected and appointed leaders driving the chip forward, it's sometimes hard to keep straight where you are and who's in charge. No wonder it's tough for folks to find a way to keep on top of the dynamic operations of a metropolis like LA!

Join the City Impact Lab and WhatNow Training for a crash course in Government 101: How Los Angeles Works. This 60-minute presentation will give an overview of the City of Los Angeles and how it relates to other cities and jurisdictions. The course will cover a brief history, current status, and how things can change. It's like School House Rock, but instead of how a bill becomes a law, you'll learn how an idea becomes an ordinance… but only within LA City limits… which is different than the other 87 cities in the county… but does include the over 150 communities from Watts to Silverlake to Northridge!
